Hello friends and fellow Toastmasters!
Our theme for this week was “the grass is always greener on the other side,” a phenomenon that no living being is entirely immune to. (Not even this guy!)
Our sense of curiosity never fails to make us wonder what it’s like beyond the fence, and we tend to believe that others have it better simply because we see them from afar. There is always that sibling who is better looking than us, that friend who is smarter than us, or the colleague who makes more money than us. But what would we think when we’ve lived a day in a stranger’s shoes? Is the grass truly greener on the other side? This meeting not only made me laugh and learn, but it also made me reexamine my own inner thoughts and perspective. I imagine many of you felt the same way.
During our prepared speeches, Mickey spoke about Dr. Ron Paul, a 3 time US presidential candidate, and the incredible Libertarian movement he created in our country. Eric then called upon us to think about solutions to the important topic of illegal immigration, citing his own personal stories that influenced his views on the topic. And finally, Ravi completed his 10th speech by inspiring us through the Law of Attraction which earned him a Best Speaker award. After a lively Tabletopics session, we went around and let a few volunteers, including guests, tell us what they believe is the best way to be happy and maintain appreciation in our lives. What a great way to end the night!
Looking forward to seeing you all again next Monday at 7:30pm!
